Sixteen different figures, portraying a company of Scottish highlanders. 

These can be used for the late C16th, when Scottish highland mercenaries known as ‘redshanks’ (for their bare, ruddy legs) were widely employed in the wars in Ireland and the Low Countries, right through to the Jacobite rising of 1689.

In between, of course, doughty highlanders provided the backbone of the Marquess of Montrose’s Royalist army of 1644-46, and these figures are perfect for that illustrious employment.

They’re not really intended for the later Jacobite rebellions of 1715 and 1745 - by which time flintlock muskets had superseded matchlocks. There again, hairy, kilted Highlanders with swords, targes and polearms probably didn’t look all that different in 1745 to 1645. So use them as you will. 

Pack contents: 16 unpainted metal miniatures plus two sprues of highland targes and one sprue of Scottish polearms.
